D’Tigress draw Cameroon, Tunisia in AfroBasket

D’Tigress will face Cameroon and Tunisia in Group B at the 2019 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket scheduled for Dakar, Senegal, Sports Extra reports.

The competition is set to a tip-off from August 10 to 18 at the newly-launched Dakar Arena with the reigning FIBA Women’s AfroBasket champions, aiming to retain their title won in 2017 in Bamako, Mali.

In Group A, Senegal, Egypt and Ivory Coast are pooled together, while Mali, Angola, and Congo are in Group C.

Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Kenya will battle for the two available spots in Group D.

Nigeria will be heading to Senegal, having reached the quarter-finals at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 in Tenerife, Spain.

Meanwhile, the teams ranked second and third will play the qualification round for the quarter-finals, while the top six teams from this year’s continental championship will compete at FIBA Africa’s pre-qualifying tournament for the women’s basketball competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
